STOPPING YELLING AT YOUR KIDS
Parenting is hard. If you're a parent, I'm sure that I don't need to tell you that our job is a tough one. When you're managing children, it can be difficult to remember that they are still learning. If you find you are yelling at your kids more often than you want to, here are some ways that can help you reduce the yelling. I've been working on this for the past few months and I have to say, it's been amazing for both the kids and me.
If you are having an argument with your child, you need to make sure you both take the time to really listen. It gives both of you time to think and really listen to each other, which is important. Kids are more likely to listen to you if you listen to them!
One of your biggest struggles is to remind yourself of appropriate expectations. You can't expect that your youngest acts as responsibly as your oldest. You should lower what you expect – taking into consideration things like their age – it can make a big difference.
You should do your best to take a moment before yelling and take in a deep breath. It makes a world of difference for you. Instead of yelling, you'd better whisper. It can also help diffuse any situation by making things quieter, not louder. Besides, the more time you spend with your kids, the better you'll get at communicating with them. You're both more likely to understand each other.
If your children aren't listening or it seems they only don't listen to you, you don't take it personally. You should remind yourself that your kids are still learning and they're not going to be perfect.
操作提示:句子正确选择下拉选项框为“T”;句子错误选择下拉选项框为“F”。
1. As a parent, you may know that parenting is an easy job. {T、F}

根据材料请回答 31~35
Here's a familiar version of the boy-meets-girl situation.A young man has at last plucked up courage to invite.a young lady to dinner.She has accepted his invitation.He is determined to take her to the best restaurant in town, even if it means that he will be short of money during the month to come.When they get to the restaurant, he finds that the girl is on a diet.She mustn't eat this and that.Oh, but of course, she.doesn't want to spoil his enjoyment, So she let him eat as much fattening food as he wants: it's the surest way to an early grave.They spend a truly memorable evening together and never see each other again.
How miserable dieters are! You can always recognize them from the sad expression on their faces.They spend most of their time consulting calorie charts, gazing at themselves in mirrors and leaping on to weighing-machines in the bathroom.They spend a lifetime fighting a losing battle against spreading hips, protruding tummies and double chins.Some wage (作战,实行)an all-out war on FAT.Mere dieting is not enough.They exhaust themselves doing exercises, sweating in sauna" baths (桑拿浴), being massaged (按摩) by weird(不可思议的,离奇的) machines.Don't think it's only the middle-aged who go in for these fads(一时流行的风尚).Many of these bright young people are suffering from chron- ic malnutrition: they are tiring on nothing but air, water and the goodwill of God.Dieters starve themselves of their own free will; so why are they so miserable? Well, for one thing, they're always hungry.You can't be hungry and happy at the same time.All the horrible concoctions(调制品,混合物) they eat instead' of food leave them permanently dis-satisfied.And, Of course, they're always miserable because they feel so guilty.Hunger just proves too much for them and in the end they lash out and eat five huge cream cakes at a sitting.And who can blame them? At least three times a day they are exposed to tempta-tion.What a torture it is always watching others having piles of mouth-watering food
white; you only have a glass of water! What' s all this self-inflicted (自我打击的) torture (催残) for? Saintly people deprive themselves of food to attain a state of grace.Unsaintly people do so to attain a state of misery.It will be a great day when all the dieters in the world abandon their slimming courses; when they hold out their plates and demand second helpings!

1.The Golden Rules of Negotiating

The art of negotiating is a difficult skill for most of us, even good salespeople. Here are three golden rules for you to follow: Always Start the Negotiations.

You must initiate the process. This is because whoever controls the start of the negotiations tends to control where they end. If you let the other party start negotiations, you will be constantly giving up control, often without even realizing it. For instance, when you ask someone what his project budget is, you are allowing him to start the negotiations. You will then spend your time chasing his number rather than finding the best solution. So, never let the other party control the negotiations.

2.Always Negotiate in Writing.

The purpose of negotiations is to arrive at a formal written agreement, not tell a story or spend time talking. From the first moment you begin a proposal, you should create a document and take it to the client. It will include all the points of agreement and become real to the prospective customer. Negotiating first and then having to create a document adds unnecessary time to a transaction. But if you build your written agreement as you negotiate, you are prepared to ask for a signature the moment the decision to buy is made.

3.Always Stay Cool.

The negotiation table can be loaded with agendas, egos and emotions. Great negotiators know how to stay cool, providing leadership and solutions, while the rest of the room becomes insanely invested in personal agendas and useless emotions. Crying, getting angry and blowing off steam may make you feel good, but such behavior will not benefit you while negotiating. When the rest of the room gets emotional, stay cool and use logic to negotiate and close.

1.If you let the other party start negotiations, you will be completely grasp the control, often without even realizing it.()

2.So, never let both parties control the negotiations.()

3.Negotiating first and then having to create a document doesn’t need necessary time to a transaction.()

4.Great negotiators know how to stay cool, providing leadership and solutions, while the rest of the room becomes wild or helpless during the negotiation.()

阅读理解:阅读下面的短文,根据文章内容进行判断,正确写“T”错误写“F”。
Meetings are very common nowadays. They can be weekly, monthly or annually. Some people think most meetings feel like a waste of time. They seem pointless and boring at times.
Then how do you run an effective meeting?
First, assign roles, such as greeter, timekeeper and note taker, so that you, the organizer, can be free to lead discussions and presentations.
Next, take charge from the start. Everyone will listen to you and join your discussion if you take charge in every aspect of the meeting. Show everyone that you really know what you are talking about, and everything that you talk about is useful.
Most important of all, follow the agenda. At the end of the meeting, spend a little extra time for the participants to discuss anything that needs to be immediately discussed but which may not have been on the agenda.
Always ask the participants questions to speak their minds and keep them interested. Remember that a good meeting is a two-way communication. Be open to everyone's opinion, ideas, and suggestions. Don't forget to thank them for the ideas they present.
And finally, close the meeting with everyone knowing what is expected of them and what they should do for the following weeks.Then, send out meeting minutes within a few days, while everyone still remembers the points.
1. A successful meeting should have different people to play different roles. {T、F}
2. Generally people only discuss the items listed on the agenda in a successful meeting.{T、F}
3. An unsuccessful meeting might be full of single-way communication. {T、F}

听力原文:W: May I help you?
M: Yes, [22] my wife and I want to take a vacation this winter to some place warmer.
W: I understand. How much time do you have?
M: Only a week between Christmas and the New Year. That is the problem, you see.
W: Oh, no problem at all. I can get you on a flight to sunny Spain and Portugal leaving on Christmas and coming back New Year's Eve. And it will only cost you $500 a round trip.
M: Only $500? [23] We were thinking of something less. $1,000 is a lot to spend for such a short time. [23] If we had a month maybe, not just a week.
W: [24] Do you know about the Florida Fun tour the airline offers? Everything is reserved for you. Your flight, a reserved hotel room, meals, and they even get you to and from the airport in Miami.
M: Actually we don't go in much for arranged tours. We like to do all that for ourselves.
W: Well, in that case, maybe we could just arrange your flight and the rest to you.
M: What else do you have to offer? Florida is not exactly our idea of a great vacation. What about some place a little different where few tourists go?
W: Oh, some place like Arizona, right? [25] Or maybe New Mexico? Sunny, but quiet, relaxing.
M: Yeah, that sounds better—New Mexico. I'll talk to my wife about it and then return.

For older people,shrinking isn’t that dramatic or sudden at all. Distance learning is a program that allows students to take classes online. Online classes offer on-campus classes, with the convenience of working at home, and the flexibility of creating your own schedule. Anna attends her online class in her pajamas. She gets away with it because her classroom is in her home. Anna is a full-time student learning from distance, and full time mother. She likes the online option because of its flexibility. “I don’t have to sit in class with my two little ones in day care. Instead, I can jump online anytime I like during the day,” said Anna who is preparing for a nursing degree. “What I liked most was the fact that I didn’t have to travel to another place, and I could work at my own place,” she said in an e-mail. Online students must be organized. Self-discipline and motivation are also important. Diana is a math instructor who has been teaching online classes for five and a half years. She had students who participated from far way. Many are returning students who have been working. They are focused on their goals, and are comfortable working hard. Taking classes online can have some unexpected benefits. For instance, the need to communicate questions by e-mail compels students to become better written communicators. Also, you don’t have to worry about appearance. Michael, a current online student, said in an e-mail, “I can just roll out of bed and not worry about how messy my hair is.” Anna included not having to fight for parking or paying for gas as added tuition fee. Taking classes online does have some drawbacks. Students complain about the difficulties of communicating online. Instructors complain about the students’ ability to use digital media. Online classes can end up taking more time than on-campus versions. “An online student should expect to spend at least 15 hours a week working on their assignments,” said Diana the math teacher. The extra time is needed because students must clearly demonstrate understanding of the material through email and online quizzes.

Part III Reading Comprehension (40 minutes)2016年6月大学英语四级卷1真题及答案

Directions: In this section, there is a passage with ten blanks. You are required to select one word for each blank from a list of choices given in a word bank following the passage. Read the passage through carefully before making your choices. Each choice in the bank is identified by a letter. Please mark the corresponding letter for each item on Answer Sheet 2 with a single line through the centre. You may not use any of the words in the bank more than once.

Questions 26 to 35 are based on the passage you have just heard.

Physical activity does the body good, and there's growing evidence that it helps the brain too. Researchers in the Netherlands report that children who get more exercise, whether at school or on their own, 26 to have higher GPAs and better scores on standardized tests. In a 27 of 14 studies that looked at physical activity and academic 28 , investigators found that the more children moved, the better their grades were in school, 29 in the basic subjects of math, English and reading.

The data will certainly fuel the ongoing debate over whether physical education classes should be cut as schools struggle to 30 on smaller budgets. The arguments against physical education have included concerns that gym time may be taking away from study time. With standardized test scores in the U.S. 31 in recent years, some administrators believe students need to spend more time in the classroom instead of on the playground. But as these findings show, exercise and academics may not be 32 exclusive. Physical activity can improve blood 33 to the brain, fueling memory, attention and creativity, which are 34 to learning. And exercise releases hormones that can improve 35 and relieve stress, which can also help learning. So while it may seem as if kids are just exercising their bodies when they're running around, they may actually be exercising their brains as well.
